All BMW Models to Adopt Neue Klasse Design Within the Next Two Years

BMW has unveiled bold plans to introduce 40 new or refreshed models within the next 24 months, marking one of the most ambitious product overhauls in its history. The company will integrate the advanced Neue Klasse digital architecture, first seen in the iX3, across its entire lineup.

Rather than focusing on exterior redesigns or structural changes, BMW’s updates will center on software and technological advancements — such as the new Panoramic iDrive, enhanced driver-assist systems, and AI-driven features.

According to Mike Reichelt, head of the Neue Klasse program, the new platform represents “quantum leaps in technology” so significant that existing models will soon feel outdated without these upgrades. “With the Neue Klasse, we’ve made so much progress it’s like we skipped a model generation,” Reichelt told Autocar.

While the visual design of models like the 3 Series or X5 will largely remain unchanged, the real transformation will happen beneath the surface. BMW plans to integrate the most impactful aspects of the Neue Klasse — including its digital interface, connected technology, cybersecurity improvements, and next-generation over-the-air updates — ensuring that even familiar models deliver a completely new driving experience.
